Outline
This is the introduction paragraph for my Webliography.
What is pitch? Depending on who is asked will affect the answers. Some of the definitions, according to the Merrian-Webster dictionary, are:
a (1) : the property of a sound and especially a musical tone that is determined by the frequency of the waves producing it : highness or lowness of sound (2) : a standard frequency for tuning instruments
b (1) : the difference in the relative vibration frequency of the human voice [or instrument] that contributes to the total meaning of speech [or music].
As denoted above, there are many different interpretations of pitch, weather it is how high and how low the starting note is and whether it is the style for which the notes are spaced, frequency. This is the topic for which I am studying, and I hope to determine the benefits and drawback to different interpretations.
Outline:
Introductory: introduces concept to be discussed (the three different ways in which I will discuss how pitch can effect music)
Body paragraph set #1: talks about raising and lowering the pitch
Body paragraph set #2: talks about just intonation vs. equal temperament
Body paragraph set #3: unknown at this moment
Conclusion: Pitch effects not just the sound, but also the players themselves, both limiting and expanding the possibilities of the musicians....
I am studying pitch and how different interpretations of pitch can effect both the music and the musicians.
